«Russia from above» is a grand movie epic, which will be a real revelation to many viewers.
The masterpiece of cinematography will get a new sound of a symphony orchestra. A nine-month voyage over the world’s biggest country: the viewers will see our vast and beautiful country from the Arctic Ocean to the deserts of Kalmykia, from Europe’s highest peak of Elbrus to Kamchatka’s volcanoes.
An unprecedented attempt by a professional international team to demonstrate the boundless spaces and striking contrasts of our country from a bird’s-eye view. The focus is on desert landscapes, impressive metropolitan areas, wild animals, taiga forests, Siberian cold and more.
Russia is certainly the biggest country on earth. Covering 11 time zones, it is twice the size of the United States of America and almost fifty times the size of Germany, the most populous country in the European Union. And yet, most of Russia is still a mystery.
This is Russia, as you have not seen it yet, filmed from helicopters with the best aerial film cameras in the world. The focus is on fascinating aerial views of pristine landscapes, wildlife and fascinating cities.
The camera crew was the first to be allowed to film many places. “Flight over Russia” shows life of the peoples of Siberia, the forbidden city of Norilsk and diamond mines in the city of Mirny, where one of the deepest quarries on the planet is located.
The view from Elbrus, Europe’s highest mountain in the Caucasus, looks like a view of the earth from the sky. Breathtaking views of the Altai, on the border with China, Mongolia and Kazakhstan, are equally impressive. And you will not find a safer viewpoint of one of the most volcanically active places on the planet, 29 active volcanoes of Kamchatka.
“This film is impressive not only due to majestic expanses of our country, but also the bright colors, unusual angles and scale of shooting”
Alexey Miller
Chairman of the Management Committee of PJSC “Gazprom”
